Vintz Desert - “super nintendo”
As he gears up for his 2025 EP release, Maryland-based singer-songwriter Vintz Desert has just released “super nintendo,” a song that traverses the bond between brother and sister.
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll already know that we are big fans of Vintz’s indie folk craftsmanship– pressing play on “super nintendo” will tell you everything you need to know about that. The song begins with the vibrant strums of an acoustic guitar, full and reverberating as it sets a contemplative and nostalgic mood.
Vintz’s vocal maintains the same emotional integrity that he’s spoon-fed to our ears over the past couple years, relying primarily upon natural talent instead of the modern crutch of autotune. With “super nintendo,” he openly states that it’s been inspired by the likes of Hayden Calnin and Hazlett, two of our favorites when it comes to the genre.
As the gentle notes of a banjo begin to populate the arrangement, a multi-layered vocal performance falls into place, elevating the track through the roof over the refrain. Some notes from a bass add a deep foundation, with the quiet keys of a piano and an ethereal string section imbuing “super nintendo” with prolific width.
The song is void of any percussive elements and is propelled forward solely on raw emotion and the intensity of its gradual crescendo. “super nintendo” is a beautiful taste of what is yet to come from Vintz Desert, and you can rest assured that we will be featuring the entire contents of his forthcoming EP, one track at a time.
