From Melbourne, Australia, Thomas Savage, aka Vilde, is back on the blog with the otherworldly indie folk track, “Adoration, doubt & a healing wound.”

This song is founded upon weaving, fingerpicked acoustic guitar that has a beautiful, full-bodied, mellow, intimate, and immersive tone. The mood is wonderfully introspective and nostalgic, with a serene and melancholic undertone. It is full of contemplation and effortlessly leads the listener into an almost dream-like state. The texture and atmosphere remind me of Korean psychedelic folk artist Kim Jung Mi and her pioneering album, Now, from 1968.

Vilde pleasingly surprises with this track, bringing in some ethereal and trippy layers for support. Compelling, ambient Robert Fripp-like guitar layers briefly and fluidly flare up. Lo-fi analog synths pulse, flutter, dance and melt vividly into the arrangement, like a dreamy Boards of Canada record, while the bass and drums tenderly support, enhancing the meditative atmosphere.

Complementing the music is a rich, intimate, and breathy layered vocal that is filled with reflective harmonies. “Adoration, doubt & a healing woundis an elegantly serene track filled with ambient, trippy textures. The track is the forth single to be taken from Vilde’s forthcoming new album.
