Tomo - “Ocean Breeze”

Bristol, UK-based singer-songwriter Tomo has returned to the blog with “Ocean Breeze,” an indie folk journey through insecurities and codependency.

Above the sounds of subtle coastline foley, the delicate notes of finger-plucked acoustic guitar make their way across the arrangement. The vibe is melancholic and nostalgic and, almost instantly, we find ourselves completely immersed.

Ethereal and orchestral notes find their place, with the sound of their strings swelling like majestic waves amidst the somber sonic landscape. At this point, some angelic falsetto auxiliary vocals appear, guiding the path toward Tomo’s emotionally charged vocal delivery.

His voice is so soft that it’s as though he’s singing you all of his secrets, which is often the case when the lyrical content reveals such a profound sense of vulnerability and uncertainty. And just as quickly as the waves rush in, the song runs its two-and-a-half minute course.

It is rather rare that such a short song reaches into our chests and deeply resonates with our memories, but “Ocean Breeze” has been crafted so well that we are completely helpless to try and resist. Press that play button and see if you feel the same.
