Margate, UK-based dream pop band Tokyo Tea Room arrive on our blog with the vibrantly nostalgic sounds of “No Rush,” the title track from their forthcoming album.

Pressing the play button makes it immediately obvious as to why Tokyo Tea Room have garnered tens of millions of streams. The soft synth tones that bring “No Rush” to life are soon joined by an electronically-infused rhythm before the shimmering and reverberating chords from a guitar break the surface of the soundscape. One thing is for certain: this band puts the chill in chillwave.

The delicately soothing vocal performance washes across the listener like cleansing waters, allowing all to escape into a four-and-a-half minute dreamscape of introspection. Arpeggiated and muted notes have been masterfully panned, accumulating in a sonic width that seems to know no bounds. Adding to this permeating sense of space is a subdued lower vocal harmony, the cherry atop this mellifluous work of art.

No Rush” is the kind of song that will imbue the night with a glorious soundtrack while traversing some nameless superhighway. It has just the right amounts of melancholy and nostalgia, and we cannot think of a better tune to have in your ears as a means to recharge and replenish your musical spirit.
