The Coo - “Honey I Do”

UK-based Matt Arthur and NL-based Jara Holdert, aka The Coo, have just released the vintage-tinged indie-folk track, “Honey I Do.”

Honey I Do” is built around the warm, intimate tones of acoustic guitar. The acoustic is used tastefully to clothe the track in texture, either through weaving, mellow fingerpicked patterns or through more urgent rhythmic strumming.

Layers are applied on top, creating an inviting sense of ebb and flow. Jangly, reverbed electric guitar delicately glides over the composition permeating an airy, uplifting vibe. Vintage toned and elegantly unembellished drums and bass pull in tight the mid-tempo groove.

The interplay of the two vocals is what makes “Honey I Do” a truly special track. Warm, earthy and richly resonant, the contrast in the two timbres is delightfully engaging.

On the track, The Coo add: “Honey I Do is about love when it works out - an ode to hope, shining through doubt. It tells the story of someone who feels lost amongst all the romantic possibilities of the big city, falling in and out of connections that don’t quite meet - only to find that special person when they least expect it.”

Honey I Do” is a rich, open, and spacious listening experience– as if it is a track lifted straight out of 1965. The song is the fourth release to be taken from their forthcoming album, A Different Life, slated for release this October.
