See Night - “Gravity”
Los Angeles-based See Night has just released the incredibly beautiful, mournful and atmospheric dream pop track, “Gravity.” The ballad explores letting go and moving on from the past while being called into the future.
Few songs have the power to encapsulate dreaminess as effortlessly as this ethereal masterpiece. “Gravity” is a delicate, bittersweet lullaby built on the mellow, hypnotic weaving tones of electric guitar; the song feels as if it exists in a brilliant, perpetual twilight. Supported by a subtle percussive section that pulses like a restful heartbeat and exquisitely vivid textural feedback– the stuff that Nick McCabe would envy– you are immersively wrapped in melancholic warmth, much like putting on your favourite jumper on a cold day.
This is all before we get to the intimate, soulful vocal that elevates the track to dizzying otherworldly heights. Detached, cool and devastatingly vulnerable, the vocal will melt even the iciest of hearts.
“Gravity” is a mesmerising rare gem, radiating a rare splendour that few acts, save for the likes of Mazzy Star, have ever convincingly captured. The track is taken from the forthcoming album, Just Another Life, slated for release on February 28th.
