Sarah Gross - “Margarita”
New York-based singer-songwriter Sarah Gross returns to us with the delightfully Americana-tinged sounds of her new single, “Margarita.”
This folksy tune begins with the wonderful and raw sounds of acoustic guitar accompanied by a soaring melody of synthy strings that glide across the top of the arrangement. The subtle notes from an electric guitar add satisfying accents to the edges of each bar, providing “Margarita” with a wide, ambient-rich sonic landscape.
The emergence of Gross’ vocal performance reminds us why we end up featuring every tune that she sends over to us. In “Margarita,” she delivers lines of lyrics in a manner that is warmly reminiscent of Kacey Musgraves, with delightful hints of Loretta Lynn and classic Fleetwood Mac, each word delivering a distinct sense of nostalgic bliss.
After climbing into her upper register for an exquisite serving of a pre-chorus, a lower harmony joins “Margarita” on the refrain, which lends the track an additional helping of folksy flavor. From there, the arrangement picks up some percussive passengers, as well as the glorious swells of ethereal vocal textures, gradually growing into an epic crescendo that is sure to keep you coming back for multiple listens.
We’re not certain if “Margarita” means that another LP is on the way, but we will gladly enjoy the hell out of it while we await further details. You should press that play button and join us in doing so.
