Sam Lynch - “All the Life”

Vancouver, British Columbia-based singer-songwriter Sam Lynch has just released “All the Life,” a folk-lined gem of indie rock goodness.

Across the top of a soft and ethereally droning tone, the vibrant sounds of semi-muted guitar strings rise above the surface, imbuing “All the Life” with a hopeful and introspective mood that immediately enchants the listener. Lynch’s vocal enters, wonderfully providing the track with a vibe that is warmly reminiscent of Billie Marten and Julia Jacklin, effectively nailing our niche for this brand of indie.

As “All the Life” enters its steady and gradual crescendo, additional layers of vocals emerge, doubling and harmonizing with Lynch’s heartfelt lyricism, at times so robust that it sounds as though it pours through the digital spout of a vocoder. Deep bass and an exquisitely lo-fi rhythm soon embark, spreading a thick and nostalgic sheen across the entire arrangement.

Amidst all of these authentically-crafted and emotionally-charged elements, the cherry on top is the texture provided by the lead guitar, which, in addition to the vocal performance, has brought us back to this track for multiple spins. “All the Life” is the first single from Lynch’s forthcoming LP, Outline, which will be available on November 15th via Birthday Cake Records.
