Plàsi - “Salamina”
Swedish-Greek indie folk artist Plàsi has just released the reflective, psych-tinged “Salamina.”
“Salamina” is founded upon the delicate, intricate tones of fingerpicked acoustic guitar. Flowing and hypnotic, the guitar is elegantly melodic and harmonic, offering a lush textural backdrop that complements the ethereal layers that tenderly wrap around it. Heightening the contemplative mood are flurries of vivid, trippy synth-like textures that melt and get lost in the haunting layers of reverb.
Enhancing the dreamlike qualities are a variety of subtle, soothing, and understated percussive layers that enhance the sensation of texture and ambience. These layers give a sense of movement rather that providing a traditional driving beat. Plàsi offers an evocative and heartfelt Justin Hayward-esque vocal for this ethereal track. Warm, rich, and gentle, the delivery gives a sensation of floating and drifting over the music– the performance is simply timeless.
“Salamina” is the title track for Plàsi’s new EP, released via Nettwork, which is out today. The inspiration for “Salamina“ sprouted on the idyllic shores of the namesake island, just off the coast of Athens. Plàsi adds that “the idea of this EP was born with the title track ‘Salamina’. An environment that made me think outside of my own box and convinced me to take steps. This EP is a journey from the previously indie folk centred productions to hints of a newer and bigger sound with more indie pop elements.”
Wistful, nostalgic, “Salamina” is a strikingly moving track reminiscent of not only The Moody Blues but also Linda Perhacs. This track will please music lovers who enjoy getting lost in evocative, otherworldly soundscapes.
