Peter Stone - “Courtyard”

Asheville, North Carolina-based singer-songwriter Peter Stone arrives on the blog with a tune for the extroverted introverts: “Courtyard.”

To be quite honest, before we even pressed the play button, Stone had already won us over with the song’s subject matter. But rest assured that fans of raw, stripped-back indie folk music are going to find something truly captivating here.

The arrangement is wonderfully sparse, residing primarily within a duet of guitars. An acoustic provides that time-tested layer of nostalgic bliss, while a reverberating electric imbues “Courtyard” with dreamy and ethereal layers of ambience.

The vocal performance brings another level of intimacy via a bare and heartfelt delivery– it’s as though Stone is offering you a private concert in whatever coffeehouse you happen to find yourself. The honest lyrics remain unscathed by digital manipulation and we find ourselves clinging to every word.

Courtyard” is the first single from Stone’s forthcoming LP, which due for release on August 22nd. In the meantime, we hope that you give this one all the spins it deserves as Stone embarks on an East coast on tour:
