Scott Apple - “Everything”

Knoxville, Tennessee-based Scott Apple has just released the poignant indie folk track, “Everything.”

Everything” is a strikingly reflective track built around the steady, harmonically rich textures of acoustic rhythm guitar, cutting through the mix with pleasing intimacy and warmth. This sound is enhanced by the supporting layers of mellow electric piano, which helps to pad and further flesh out the track’s melodic lines, and subtle layers of atmospheric electric guitar.

The electric guitar adds depth to the arrangement with refined highlights that emphasise certain sections, while the use of reverb and distortion creates a meditative depth and atmosphere. Pushing the track forward is a staggered, laid-back drum beat and soothing bass, which beautifully enhance the introspective mood of “Everything.”

Scott Apple’s vocal is soulful, clear, and emotive throughout the nuanced performance. With a strong emphasis on expressive phrasing, his delivery shifts from lush, gentle tones to subdued crescendos of emotion. Enhancing the reflective and contemplative atmosphere are rich backing vocals, which add cohesion and depth, making the track feel truly soul stirring.

Lyrically, the song vividly and poetically expresses feelings of pain, loss and the struggle of intense love and life. Enchanting from start to finish, “Everything” highlights Scott Apple’s stellar melodic and songwriting credentials. The track is taken from Scott Apple’s debut album, Darling Citizen, which is now available everywhere.
