From Leeds, indie band Opheliah have just released the intimate and soothing folk sounds of “M&P.”

Opheliah are quickly becoming a blog staple, winning us over with each new release. And “M&P” is no exception, consisting of a raw and stripped-back arrangement, initially entering the ears as though being performed right in front of you. The quiet and delicate sounds of a finger-plucked acoustic guitar enchantingly fill your soul at the press of the play button.

The vocal performance soon arrives, beholding an authentic emotional weight that mirrors the intimacy of the instrumental. As the song progresses, the distant sounds of shaker provide some subtle momentum, as a more cinematic orchestral pad fills out the remaining space. This barebones production allows the lyrical content to magnificently shine.

All of these musical elements are gradually brought into the foreground, beckoning the arrival of a glorious vocal harmony that promptly nails our niche for the genre. For those of you looking for an acoustically-driven introspective journey through human emotion, “M&P” should be your next stop.
