Navah Sea x Low Hum - “Cinnamon”
Navah Sea and Low Hum from the United States have collaborated on the rhythmically charged experimental downtempo track, “Cinnamon.”
“Cinnamon” is a throbbing, crawling, impeccable single that feels as if Navah Sea and Low Hum have been anointed by the Gods to summon the human species to cut shapes in a mechanical Zen state. Oscillating like a highly charged electrical current, you promptly find yourself magnetically seduced to the loose-limbed drum beat and stuttering bass groove. This tight, hypnotic foundation, rich in syncopation, gives us something to grasp on to as we are barraged by rippling spectral layers.
Freeform rustic piano, subtle synths, falsetto vocals, distorted layers, delay, reverb, slick EQ cuts and panning dance like a half-forgotten dream pulled from the subconscious. The vibe is dark, sensuous, astoundingly vivid as noises cosmically meander through endless quantities of processing. It is studio trickery so extravagant and luscious and so well executed that it truly underlines the colossal talent of both Navah Sea and Low Hum.
“Cinnamon” is a wild, spellbinding track that feels as if it has been built on pure instinct. In some ways, I wish Navah Sea and Low Hum pushed this composition way beyond its tidy two-minute and thiry-four second duration into a sprawling, codeine-saturated disco epic… but I guess we have to wait until their new EP lands to see what their strobe flashed masterplan is. “Cinnamon” is the first track to be taken from Navah Sea and Low Hum’s forthcoming EP, Dreams.
