From Tel-Aviv, Israel, Eshchar Nachmany, aka Monad, has just released the captivating indie psych track, “I See You.”

I See You,” like much of Monad’s exceptional back catalogue, is a track that musically sets out to fold your mind into a breathtaking piece of origami. The track opens to a punchy, dry drum groove and hazy synths that builds anticipation for the opulent, kaleidoscopic jet engine of noise that is about to kick in and launch us skyward.

Swirling, lavish and brimming full of woozy confidence, “I See You” soon becomes awash in acid-tinged guitars, cosmic synths and syrupy bass lines. With the generous use of effects these elements weave like an immersive dream sequence, the type that can only be truly appreciated whilst listening to with a decent pair of headphones and your eyes closed.

Production-wise, Monad leads us through the ebb and flow of these woolly, chunky and shimmering textures with a level of control that you only really find on Tame Impala, Dungen, or early Deerhunter records. Washed out, sun faded, and yet one of the clearest elements in the mix, are the sublime vocals. Supported by London-based artist Ariel Pedatzur, the performance is tastefully reserved, intimate yet mesmerizingly atmospheric.

On the track Monad adds: “On I See You I wanted to explore that very limited time when you know you’re about to lose something but you’re still barely holding onto it. The song was written directly after my partner was diagnosed with cancer, and right before she started her treatment. It was a period where we both had strange, recurring dreams of drowning and being out in the ocean. It was a rough time of coming to terms with the loss of the life we knew before and accepting that a different, scary and unexpected part of it was starting. It's that moment-you-jump-off-a-cliff, the short moment of suspense you have in the air - there is where this song lives.”

Vivid, impressively cool and totally blissed out, “I See You” is just one of those tracks that effortlessly blows your mind. Monad is donating all proceeds from Bandcamp for “I See You” to Standing Together. The organisation is a joint Jewish/Palestinian movement working to foster peace, equality and social justice in Israel-Palestine.
