Mari Sitzmann - “What If”

From her brand new EP, Who I am Without You, USA-based singer-songwriter Mari Sitzmann has arrived on our blog with “What If.”
Sitzmann does not make her listeners wait, beginning “What If” with a wonderfully folksy and emotive vocal performance atop the soft strums of an acoustic guitar. The lyrics come across as quite personal, though the way that the storytelling instills the track with vivid imagery allows the words to deeply resonate.
“What If” resides within a stripped-back production for the first third of its course, gloriously elevating upon the arrival of a divine vocal harmony. The rhythm section emerges with a subtle build, imbuing the track with some gentle momentum, yet maintaining the raw sounds of acoustic instrumentation.
Delightful flourishes of lead guitar emerge between lines of lyrics, with angelic layers of auxiliary vocals filling in the spaces left in the arrangement. “What If” is a superbly chill, upbeat slice of Americana that will most assuredly have you chasing down the remainder of the EP, which is now available everywhere.
