Abby Webster - “Swimming”

From Livingston, Montana, Abby Webster is back on the blog with the folksy, feel-good vibes of “Swimming.”

Pressing the play button invites a wonderfully energetic and stripped-back sound into your ears, nostalgically-charged and thick with analogue character. Gentle drums propel the song forward, while deep notes from the bass provide a foundation for the upbeat strums of acoustic guitar. It is not at all difficult to imagine the band performing it live, with a raw production that perfectly captures the heart of the folk genre.

Webster’s vocal performance brings a classic, vintage flavor to “Swimming,” with a voice that remains completely void of digital manipulation, shining a spotlight on her natural talent. A harmonizing layer has been utilized at key moments of the song, bringing a wonderfully rich and robust width to the soundscape. Ear candy comes by way of subtle, ethereal tones from a pedal steel, one of our favorite instruments of all time.

Swimming” is taken from Webster’s brand new album, Livin’ by the Water, which is now available everywhere:
