Luna Keller - “Shivering”

Cologne-based Luna Keller returns to the blog with “Shivering,” the second single from her forthcoming EP, Rescue Songs.

It really does not get any more stripped-back and intimate than this, beginning with a delightfully palm-muted, finger-plucked acoustic guitar performance. The mood is melancholic, just the way we like it, though glimmering hints of hope transcend the sparsely recorded arrangement, providing a delicate backdrop for your much-needed bouts of introspection.

As we’ve come to expect from Keller, “Shivering” beholds a magnificently raw and believable vocal performance. The subject matter is one of which many listeners have come to know quite well through Keller’s music, delving into the depths of the human experience and all of the turmoil found within the often silent struggle with one’s mental health.

As the track progresses, Keller has imbued the production with an additional layer of vocals, harmonizing with the main line, wonderfully spreading the sound across the audio field. Careful listeners will also notice the subtle, occasional swelling of strings, most notable across the song’s bridge and at the song’s climax.
