Justin Sconza - “View of London”

Chicago-based singer-songwriter Justin Sconza joins us once again with a new single, “View of London,” the second release from his LP, Campfire.

View of London” does not make listeners wait, beginning with a full-band production at the press of the play button. The sound is upbeat, yet maintains a substantially chill vibe, partially due to its deliciously lo-fi character. As we mentioned in our last review, Sconza records all of his music at home on an 8-track; therefore, there’s a distinctly vintage-tinged flavor that makes the track quite the delectable dish.

Sconza’s vocal keeps with this motif by providing “View of London” with a delightfully layered sense of nostalgia. The main delivery is double-tracked and includes harmony textures on the refrain, resulting in a performance that has a palpable mid-to-late-1960s character. Sconza has also taken the liberty of including a bridge before the last throw of choruses, which is becoming quite rare in modern music.

All in all, there is a superbly classic quality to this new tune– from the straightforward nature of its structure to its superlative lo-fi fervor, “View of London” is most assuredly a song worth having in your ears. If you find this sound appealing, you will find much more of it inside of Sconza’s previous releases.
