Swan Porter - “Death Bed Visions”

From the USA, Swan Porter has just released the raw and melancholic sounds of “Death Bed Visions,” a transcending trek through the lands of introspection.

The soft strums of an acoustic guitar get this magnificent journey started, wonderfully entering the ears in a lo-fi, intimate wave of emotion. Swan Porter’s vocal performance soon begins, warmly reminiscent of both Hope Sandoval and Fiona Apple– two of our forever favorites. Her voice is raw and honest and we find ourselves hanging onto each reflective syllable that she delivers to us.

A subdued, angelic vocal harmony finds its position in the arrangement, adding a remarkable sense of width to the otherwise intimate composition. Rising swells of strings hover in the distance, providing the sonic landscape with a profound sense of depth and resonance. And for a song that is so sparsely recorded, each ingredient richly fills the spaces between the dark, poetic nature of the lyrical content.

Death Bed Visions” was entirely self-produced, composed, and performed in the mountains of Santa Cruz. And we feel that it is this palpable lo-fi and authentic characteristic that will allow it to deeply resonate with the listener. This is the first single for Swan Porter’s new project and we invite you to silently pray that each successive release will be just as enchanting.
