London-based artist Hugo Brijs has just released the catchy indie pop-rock track, “Keep Your Light On.”

Keep Your Light On” is one of those indie pop-rock songs that effortlessly strikes the right balance between whimsical and introspective, as well as dreamy and almost psychedelic. In many ways, the track feels like MGMT at their very best, whilst skillfully avoiding the anxious, hipster college-dorm, monotone space rock that they frequently slipped into.

The arrangement is richly textured with glossy synth layers that arpeggiate and shimmer over warm, organic guitars, piano, harpsichord, and drums. Meticulously arranged yet loose and playful, this retro-futuristic track is polished and beautifully creative.

Hugo Brijs serves up a direct, vibrant and exuberant vocal arrangement which, in some ways, reminds me of The Polyphonic Spree. Infused with optimism and surrounded by ear worm-like choral backing layers that inject vibrant melodies, the performance packs a classic indie pop rock punch.

On the track, Hugo Brijs adds: “I wrote this song for my younger sister who fell chronically ill in 2022 - 2023. She had to stop working and was at home and in bed for a lot of the time. It’s a simple message from me to her - take the time you need to get better, don't be scared of getting left behind and remember that you're still awesome.”

Delicious and tastefully mind-bending, Hugo Brijs’ Keep Your Light On” is taken from the album, Creeper, which is also out today.
