Hounds - “sky king”

Oslo-based Hounds has just released the blissfully melancholic vibes of “sky king.”
If you happen to be in the mood for the cinematic aural delights of Searows and/ or the melodic vocal prowess of Phoebe Bridgers, you really need to press that play button. “sky king” opens with some remarkably plucked acoustic guitar, leaving a trail of indie folk goodness and some heaping spoonfuls of nostalgia. In the distance, swells of ambience fill in the gaps in the soundscape, providing an astounding sense of depth.
There’s some great magic in Hounds’ vocal performance, which wonderfully channels the fervor of boygenius through a multitracked delivery, complete with glorious moments of harmonization and a wide stereo spread. Barebones percussive elements emerge to provide some forward propulsion beneath the magnificent canopy of voices that wash across the listener like the gentle waves of some mystical, musical sea.
