Emma Munger - “Pattern”
From Brooklyn, New York, singer-songwriter Emma Munger has just released the gentle and nostalgic sounds of “Pattern,” the title track from her forthcoming LP.
The song opens with a remarkably finger-plucked acoustic guitar performance, wonderfully setting the chill, reflective vibe of “Pattern.” The thick and creamy texture of a bass soon emerges, shortly followed by vintage-tinged brushed drums. Another layer of guitars and some well-placed harmony vocals offer the finishing touches to the relaxed arrangement.
For those of you seeking an introspective take on the sensation of feeling stuck in life, look no further than this lyrical content. Combined with Munger’s natural knack for channeling the likes of Fenne Lily and Billie Marten, “Pattern” serves up an authentic, folksy vocal performance, steeped in emotional integrity and raw as all hell.
Munger adds that “Pattern“ was “recorded last fall at Mason Jar Studios in Brooklyn, NY with producer/engineer Sam Skinner (of Pinegrove). We recorded with a live studio band (Theo Munger on drums, Margaux Boughegnies on bass), and added vocals afterwards. It's a song about feeling stuck, and trying to fight that feeling by doing things you're afraid of.”
“Pattern“ is Emma Munger’s debut single and if it is any indication of what the rest of the LP will contain, she is bound for a bright, musical future. Please join us in anticipating the release of the record, due out on December 6th.
