Earth to Josh - “Run”
From Lismore in Northern New South Wales, Australia, Earth to Josh has just released the swirling modern psychedelic track, “Run.”
“Run” opens to the nostalgic, wholesome tones of fingerpicked acoustic guitar that weaves with a reflective intricacy across the composition. As the track progresses, it elegantly ebbs and flows, evolving into a more robust arrangement. Drums begin to push the track forward with a toe-tapping, trance-inducing beat, while a warm bass grooves expressively.
Fluid and expansive slide guitar mysteriously cries and wails. These layers build tastefully into a soaring, gritty, and bluesy guitar solo. Earth to Josh heightens the psychedelic vibes through a generous use of phaser, delay, and reverb effects. Flowing, eddying sections become immersively dreamlike before the effects are reined in, creating a powerful sense of tension and release across the track.
Vocally, Earth to Josh’s delivery cuts across the luscious arrangement in a similar fashion as Kevin Parker on the Tame impala records. Filled with otherworldly, lingering, and stretching notes, the vocal strikingly blends with the rich sonic landscape. This slow and punchy gem of a track is taken from Earth to Josh’s debut album, which is set to be unveiled later this year.
