Berlin-based duo Ed Prosek and Portair, aka Driftwood Choir, have arrived with “Way Back Home,” a gentle and soothing indie folk number designed to bring us some peace amidst our worldly struggles.

We have long been fans of Prosek’s song craft, so it comes as no surprise that “Way Back Home” deeply resonates with us. Some dreamy chords from a reverberating electric guitar dominate the arrangement, with ethereal textures swelling in the background to provide an ambient sense of depth and width.

As the song progresses, a steady rhythm section emerges to add some forward momentum to the composition. However, “Way Back Home” consistently adds and removes elements in order to instill a grand serving of ebb and flow. All of these elegant sounds provide the perfect canvas for the extravagant vocal performance.

Both Prosek and Portair have imbued the track with layers upon layers of heavenly voices that, oftentimes, sound true to the duo’s namesake: a choir. Their multi-tracked method of delivering the melancholic, yet hopeful subject matter is, most assuredly, one of the main reasons that “Way Back Home” has found its way onto our page.

The raw emotion and attention to detail is bound to earn “Way Back Home” a permanent spot among all of your folksy playlists. Give it a spin and you shall agree– now available everywhere via Nettwerk Music Group.
