Dark Dazey - “Enemy”
Los Angeles-based, genre-defying, psychedelic indie-alt rockers Dark Dazey make a triumphant return to our blog with “Enemy,” a fuzzy romp through the land of thick riffs and self-sabotage.
A crunchy, over-driven beat gets things started, soon joined by a deliciously thick, woolly mammoth of a guitar riff. Within the first five seconds of “Enemy,” listeners will have their interest fully piqued, as this colossal groove is, as the kids say, straight fire.
For the verse, bass takes the helm of this mighty ship, steering it out to a sea of darkness as the reverberating sounds of vocals permeate the soundscape with steep, self-reflecting lyrics. At this point, it becomes abundantly clear that Dark Dazey is the real deal, and it’s not surprising that their music has been added to editorial playlists all throughout the land.
Ear candy comes by way of meticulously placed notes from a piano, as well as layers of synth that pulse and radiate from deep within the arrangement. A highlight here is the giant wall of guitars that emerges in the final third of “Enemy,” prompting a saturating wave of distorted bliss that will completely engulf all who are lucky enough to hear.
If you’ve not yet pressed play on a Dark Dazey tune, do yourself a favor and start with this one. “Enemy” will lead you through the darkest depths of your spirit and have you begging for a second trip.
