clovers daughter - “are you coming home?”

American-Palestinian singer-songwriter Noor Shami, aka clovers daughter, has just released the modern folk-pop glory of “are you coming home?

This track begins with the remarkably raw sounds of acoustic guitar, layered in such a way that the end result is wide and percussive, as well as vibrant and chill. Ambient swells of lead guitar rise and fall across the arrangement, allowing listeners a multidimensional listening experience that is instantly enchanting.

Shami’s vocal performance is truly a delight to have enter your ears, warmly reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers as she unveils lyrical content that reflects upon “longing, distance, and self-discovery.” Beneath her intimate delivery, the song begins to reveal new elements, such as additional guitar textures that send the composition into a gradual crescendo.

A soft and gentle rhythm section soon appears, providing a sturdy foundation for the seemingly endless number of guitar sounds. A dose of dynamic fluctuation is added before the big finish, with a stripped-back, guitar and vocal performance that makes the ending hit with a satisfying amount of indie folk force.

This is our first time hearing from clovers daughter, but we certainly hope it is not the last. Enjoy “are you coming home?” wherever you get your music, and connect with the artist online: Spotify | Facebook | Instagram | X
