We Are All Fossils - “Rapture”
South Africa-born, England-based singer-songwriter We Are All Fossils has just released the reflective indie folk track, “Rapture.”
“Rapture” leads listeners on a soulful journey to renewal with meditative, shimmering tones of acoustic rhythm guitar. The mood is gentle and unhurried, unfolding in the way that all folk gems should. Ambient swells of reverberating guitar, piano and hymn-like backing vocals flesh the composition much in the same way clouds drift across a picturesque landscape. Spacious and exquisitely minimalistic, the production is simply flawless.
Bringing a delightful authenticity to the track’s narrative is an incredibly tender and soulful vocal performance. Unwavering, yet fragile, you will find it hard not to get lost in the calming nature of the delivery.
On the track the artist adds: “Rapture is about a duality that started to exist for me, the place I went to survive after my mother passed eventually became an environment which was going to consume me. Rapture is about me choosing to fight for better days and trying to leave the place which kept me numb. I started writing this song while I was in the Lake District, in the mornings I could see the landscape. I took in that no matter the weather however harsh nature just keeps adjusting to change and I became inspired by that powerful thought. It made me question my resistance to change and what that has meant for me over the years.”
