Beast Beast - “Turning to”

Sweden-based Beast Beast have just released the vibrant and playful indie rock track, “Turning to.”

Turning to” is definitely one of those tracks that takes us on a cosmic detour back to the technicolour world of the 1960s. Whether it is the rollicking, theatrical piano lines, eclectic percussive elements or the Ringo like drum fills. Yet it feels incredibly fresh with its sleek, funky bass lines, strutting beat, earthy sway of acoustic guitar and the rowdy electric guitar lines that grow in stature as the track enters its crescendo. It is a track that wouldn’t feel out of place in Black Keys setlist holding that same open and lively vintage vibe. Pure and simply put it’s a song to turn up loud and rock out to.

Vocally, we are treated to a masterclass in emotion and soulful intensity. There are strong brush strokes of R&B and blues but also it is allowed to breezily croon. The performance does swim in its own smoky richness but it is incredibly tastefully done giving the track the depth and also the intimacy it deserves.

On the track Beast Beast adds: “The song has a raw, energetic vibe and a punchy groove that draws inspiration from The Kinks, especially when adding some moody choirs and a walking bass. It’s a song about a fuckup in decision-making taken to the max. Think - one bad decision leads to another and instead of getting out of the vicious spiral, you end up turning to the safety of someone you don’t want in your life anymore. Just because they can save you. Again.”

Slick yet served with lavish amounts of raucous energy, “Turning to” is an explosive taster for Beast Beast’s forthcoming album B&B, slated for release later this Spring. Make sure you don’t miss it!
