Tyler Edwards - “Over the Blue”

From Nashville, singer-songwriter Tyler Edwards arrives on our blog with “Over the Blue,” his last release of 2024.

This tune begins remarkably lo-fi, almost as though Edwards is in the room with you, providing ambience with a delightfully finger-plucked acoustic guitar performance. Some urban foley provides a rich pad to the arrangement, giving “Over the Blue” an authentic, human touch.

At about the thirty-second mark, Edwards begins his fantastic and soothing vocal performance, relying solely on his natural ability to deliver the sound, rather than any modern, digital production tactics. The tone of his voice wonderfully matches the stripped-back nature of the song’s initial foundation.

As the track progresses, the soundscape is fitted with a vintage-tinged rhythm section and an otherworldly layer of synth. And although this ethereal, seemingly retro-imbued sound is a fairly bold ingredient to add to a folk song, “Over the Blue” never pretends to be anything other than a bridge to your raw emotions.

Through his experimentation with various elements, Edwards has successfully melded the realms of folk and psychedelia, offering listeners a vibrant look into what his 2025 recordings might entail. “Over the Blue” is truly a magnificent song and we encourage you to invite it into your ears asap.
