Starpainter - “Let It Pass”

Lethbridge, Alberta-based Starpainter have just released “Let It Pass,” a beautiful and fun folk song with great, heartfelt storytelling.

The music instantly hooks you with a steady drum beat that has an almost bouncing feel to it. The bass provides a deep foundation and it has a nice walking feel. The rhythm section is a pleasure to listen to and makes me think of Neil Young. The atmosphere is enhanced by the warm acoustic guitar, reflective lap steel howls and a subtle, but bright organ pad.

Let It Pass” builds magically and the gorgeous electric guitar lines are captivating. They lift the arrangement perfectly in key areas and really enhance the song’s melodic nature. The dreamy dynamic break beholds some wonderfully played piano and I really love the lap steel lines that rush in, enhancing this mood.

The vocal performance expertly connects with the listener with its expressive and warm tones. Delivering relatable lyrics about love, the whole performance is enhanced by the great backing vocals that harmonize, ultimately creating a rich layer of support.

Starpainter’s “Let It Pass” is a great folk song, full of warm, tender tones and melodic performances. The track is taken from Starpainter’s new album, Rattlesnake Dream, which is out now:
