sixten - “Atlantic”

Sweden-based sibling duo Tova and Sigge Strandell, aka sixten, are back on the blog with the moody and romantically-tinged sounds of “Atlantic.”

This soothing and dreamy number begins with a mesmerizing melody that confidently soars across the top of a rich and robust arrangement. The rhythm provides more than enough bounce to get your feet tapping, and we would not be at all surprised if “Atlantic” found its way into all of your road-tripping playlists.

The elements are peeled back for the verse sections, revealing a raw and authentic delivery, with a subtle harmony arriving on the upper register. The hook provides a solid refrain that beckons you to sing along, making “Atlantic” a strong contender for crowd participation at any given music festival.

As far as comparisons are concerned, if you can imagine a female fronted version of Keane, with a softer, more folksy dream-pop demeanor, that would put you right within the ballpark. “Atlantic” comes from sixten’s new EP, Misemotional, which is now available everywhere.

About their new EP, the duo adds: “When tragedy strikes or love hits you hard, many emotions can surge. Sometimes you’re unsure whether to allow yourself to feel intensely and express it, or to tone yourself down and bottle up your emotions. The songs on the EP reflect both extremes – one moment, you’re almost burning up, and the next, you’re frozen.”
