Say Lou Lou - “Wish I Could Hold You”
Sweden-based Say Lou Lou, comprised of twins Elektra and Miranda Kilbey, have just released the soothingly melancholic indie pop track, “Wish I Could Hold You.”
“Wish I Could Hold You” wins you over from the very first notes, which foster a chilled, reflective atmosphere. Unfolding gently and spaciously over an understated drum machine groove, a cinematic ambiance emerges from shimmering synths and warm, drifting guitar lines, while the rounded bass beneath enhances the dreamlike groove.
Many influences can be deciphered in immersive textures such as Goldfrapp, All Saints, and even a hint of Pink Floyd as the expressive guitar solo soars effortlessly before the crescendo. Say Lou Lou deliver a beautifully intimate and emotive vocal performance, with notes that linger tenderly over the meditative soundscapes. Rich in breathy harmonies that blend and intertwine elegantly, their delivery is nothing short of mystical.
Say Lou Lou elaborate on the single: “We want to show a different side to a breakup, the vulnerable, devastated, remorseful one. On Dust and Above Love we were bitter, scorned, spiteful. But with our new single, we see our past lovers in a different hue, with warmth, self-reflection and sincere affection.”
With swirling layers and luscious harmonies, “Wish I Could Hold You” is another strong glimpse of Say Lou Lou’s third full length album, slated for release this Autumn.
