From Sweden, singer-songwriter Sarah Klang arrives on our blog with “Go to the Sun,” the latest single from her forthcoming LP, Beautiful Woman.
If you happen to be a fan of Fruit Bats or Bonny Light Horseman, then you are going to want to press that play button. “Go to the Sun” boasts a wonderfully robust arrangement that comes complete with a relaxing, vintage-imbued rhythm section, breezily laying down a perfect foundation for the reverberating layers of guitar.
Between the notes, the soundscape has been painted with the ethereal tones of pedal steel, ensuring that all sonic real estate has been accounted for, leaving us no choice but to return to the track for multiple listens. Of course, where “Go to the Sun” completely earns its spot on our site is via Klang’s vocal performance, which is raw and digitally-unscathed, breathy and emotional as she reveals her signature, stream-of-consciousness storytelling.
Other high points include a spotlight on the pedal steel just past the song’s midpoint, providing “Go to the Sun” with a notable sense of dreaminess and introspection that we truly cannot resist.
