quickly, quickly - “Enything”

Graham Jonson, aka quickly, quickly, from Portland, Oregon, takes us on a masterclass of controlled chaos and grooves with the stunning alt-indie rock track “Enything.”

Enything” is a composition that drips with the sort of psychedelic, idiosyncratic charm that you could only find in a kaleidoscope. Sounds bounce and dance together over a steady beat and swaggering bass line, interspaced with dreamlike segments with ease. Funky, ambient, loose it has the same finesse that you would expect if you crossed Sea Change era of Beck, Innerspeaker era of Tame Impala, and the William Orbit production helmed Blur.

Leading us through this different dimension of sound is the dreamlike, nonchalant vocal of quickly, quickly. Here, I detect tones reminiscent of Mike Love, and again Beck along with the airy Kevin Parker. The performance is nothing short of lush and spacey as it delivers the lyrics that explore vulnerability, devotion, and love.

Sleek, yet a touch chaotic in the best of ways, “Enything” is taken from quickly, quickly’s forthcoming album, I Heard That Noise, slated for release April 18th via Ghostly International. Pre-order a copy on vinyl or cassette here. You won’t want to miss it!
