PRESSYES - “Moving On”
Austria-based PRESSYES has just released the groove laden “Moving On.” The track pulses with warm, retro disco vibes, yet has a great contemporary edge that fans of Tame Impala and Pond will find appealing.
“Moving On” is built around an irresistible, deep bass line that solidly anchors the song’s groove. The tones are warm, with a slight dirty, lo-fi quality. Complementing this funky pulse is a retro psych-hued riffing electric lead guitar, which complements the feeling of movement provided by the bass, creating a combination that will definitely make you want to move. A satisfying feeling of focus is brought to the track by the tight percussive groove that, again, has all the classic disco hall jena se qua.
It is the subtle layers within “Moving On” that heighten the light and carefree qualities of the track. Okarina flute flares up in places, lending an unusual and unexpected layer of ear candy. Shaker adds a sense of swagger and it also feels like there is a breezy synth layer buried in the composition, helping to glue the track together.
The vocals on this track have a great retro style whilst feeling contemporary in sound. The performance is light, upbeat and relaxed, which is common in 1970s disco tracks. The healthy coating of reverb and delay creates a sense of space and depth that is reminiscent of modern psychedelia.
Lyrically, “Moving On” is an ode to getting older, watching time pass, and a reminder to keep moving with the times. It is one hell of a catchy track– the groove is irresistible and free-flowing. You will find it hard not to play this one on repeat.
