Olivia Reid - “All in Time”

From New York City, singer-songwriter Olivia Reid has just released the truly captivating “All in Time,” a track that perfectly and tenderly melds indie folk and soft pop music.
“All in Time” has emerged exactly when we need it the most– the dead of winter. Its digital pulse mirrors the natural ebb and flow of our very existence, providing a gentle heartbeat to the essential downtime that many of us utilize at this time of year. Above this light-spirited rhythm, the percussive sounds of acoustic guitar find their way into the arrangement, adding a remarkably mellifluous edge to the overall soundscape.
With the arrival of some deep and rich bass notes, Reid’s raw and heartfelt vocal performance begins, delivering lines of lyrics that remind us that it is sometimes necessary to slow down and let life happen at its own pace. In addition to some wondrous layers of auxiliary vocals, and to nail down the track’s wintry flavor, Reid says that they “added a sample of someone’s footsteps in the snow and ambient voice memos from my trip to Poland that I had labeled ‘poland forest’ to create this natural world I was imagining.” To provide some ethereal energy, “All in Time” is filled with moments of otherworldly swells of strings, which bring even more dimension to the song’s stereo spread.
Towards the end, “All in Time” peels away its elements to display a more folksy and intimate core, as Reid’s voice is accompanied only by the stripped-back sounds of the acoustic guitar. And after one last wave from the string section, we are left with no choice but to return to the play button, letting the song consume us over and over again.
