Noak Hellsing - “Good News”

From Stockholm, Sweden, singer-songwriter Noak Hellsing has just released the captivating indie pop track, “Good News.”

Good News” has an irresistibly catchy vibe, thanks to its infectious drum beat. The steady pattern, filled with pleasing syncopation, imbues the track with a slick, danceable vibe, much like Happy” by Pharrell Williams. Bouncing underneath is the funky bass line that enhances the overall swagger and upbeat mood.

The song is pleasingly stripped back, with well-selected textures dressing the composition. The electric piano enhances the track with rhythmic stabs and smooth, retro-toned melodic runs, while layers of synth fill out the background, adding depth. In some places, the synths sound like strings, further enhancing the vintage atmosphere. Guitar is also used to give the rhythm a more cohesive and engaging feeling over key areas.

The production and mix on “Good News” is delightfully cohesive and every element has been carefully arranged, especially when it comes to the magnificent vocal work of Hellsing. The delivery is laid-back, smooth and exudes confidence. Catchy melodies and harmonies surround the performance effortlessly.

Hellsing adds: “A lot has changed in my life in a short period. I’ve been working more abroad and meeting new people. The world is apparently bigger than Stockholm. Looking back at the creation of this EP, I see a happy but confused person who has realised it’s okay not to know exactly what you’re doing. The title sums up a stage in life where I’m heading somewhere without knowing exactly where. Cheers to change!”

Good News” is the focus track taken from Hellsing’s second EP, SHIFT, which is also released today via TEN Records. We have been blown away by Hellsing’s musical output so far this year, with this single coming hot on the heels of “Empty the Bags,” so waste no time and hit play on this sublime release.
