Munan - “Fake Love Friday Night”
Korean-Australian artist Peter Lee, aka Munan, returns to the blog with the infectious indie psych track, “Fake Love Friday Night.”
This song is yet another release where Munan lays down his claim to being the new master of sonic illusions, immersing us in a breezy and bright psychedelic palette but also throwing a good measure of classic indie rock tones. Hints of the masters are everywhere, from Bowie, Jeff Wayne and also Tame Impala.
Pumping drums hold a steady beat whilst sun-drenched guitars lock into a hypnotic riff. Crisp, relaxed, “Fake Love Friday Night” would be perfect listening to whilst driving at high speed down the road. But it’s the attention to detail in the mix that makes this production incredible. Confident, technicolour sound scaping of warping noises, reversed sounds and doubled track guitar rear up in all the right places.
Munan offers up his unique, weightless vocal style across the song. Locked in a gentle falsetto tone, he sounds stylishly cool and confident. With radiant swirls of harmonies in support he makes the track feels effortlessly magnetic and engaging.
Vibrant, mesmerising and sublimely captivating, “Fake Love Friday Night” is taken from Munan’s forthcoming new EP which promises to be cinematic treat. Connect with Munan: Spotify | Soundcloud | Instagram | Facebook | YouTube
