Monster Planet - “Blinded”
Kansas City-based indie artist Julia Desimone, aka Monster Planet, returns to the blog with “Blinded,” an ethereally blended track of the indie pop variety.
“Blinded” opens to the soft strums of an electric guitar, shimmering and heavily effected as Desimone casts some delicate and distant auxiliary vocals. The vibe lends a mood that is simultaneously nostalgic and introspective, which is even more apparent upon the arrival of the rhythm section and additional layers of vocal harmonies.
The song provides a profound sense of ebb and flow betwixt the verses and refrains, as Monster Planet makes fantastic use of the adding and removing of layers. This allows listeners to completely lose themselves in the sublime drift of the track’s dynamic variation and vast sonic landscape.
A lo-fi beat propels “Blinded” forward and the multi-tracked layers of seemingly infinite guitars and synths will definitely keep you coming back for multiple listens. The track is imbued the a ‘90s flair and includes a middle eight that utilizes some “da da da” lyrics, which are bound to firmly lodge themselves within your brain.
