Luna Keller - “Good Intentions”
Cologne-based singer-songwriter Luna Keller has been featured on our blog so many times that we’ve lost count. Today, she returns to us with another stripped-back slice of indie folk: “Good Intentions.”
Originally slated to be part of her most recent album, Ocean Inside of Me, Keller ended up saving “Good Intentions” for her new EP, Rescue Songs. In true Keller form, this tune holds up to the rest of her emotionally-charged catalogue, beginning with the raw and intimate sounds of finger-plucked acoustic guitar, setting a divine melancholic vibe and reeling in fans of authentic, folksy craft.
Keller’s voice is one that we all recognize at this point, and her performance never fails to reach into your chest and pull at the threads that have sewn your heart into place. With “Good Intentions,” we find Keller once again sifting through her struggles with mental health, examining both shame and surrender– “that painful feeling of being disappointed in oneself for falling into the same patterns over and over…”
Over the course of “Good Intentions,” the arrangement occasionally expands to reveal additional musical elements, including the soft notes of a piano, the subtle swelling of strings, and a remarkable vocal harmony, with each bringing a profound sense of width and impact to the song’s overall level of production.
