Luke De-Sciscio - “Clever Ghost”
UK-based singer-songwriter Luke De-Sciscio is an unstoppable, folksy force of nature. After already releasing four complete records this year, he’s back with another raw and stripped-back offering to the musical gods: “Clever Ghost.”
If we’ve learned anything from De-Sciscio’s music, it is that he thrives in an authentically analogue realm of music, which is exactly what you get upon pressing the play button. The vibrant sounds of his acoustic guitar fill your ears, as though he’s stopped by for a coffee, filling the room with his craft.
Where De-Sciscio truly excels is in his vocal performance. “Clever Ghost” might consist primarily of just his voice and a guitar, but this man was born to add his tender, poetic words to the universe. Each lyrical line has been custom-made to conjure the more honest moments of existence, which is becoming harder and harder to come by.
On the refrain, De-Sciscio stretches into his upper register in order to deliver a hook akin to that of Jeff Buckley or Chris Isaak. The resulting sound will stop you dead in your tracks, commanding your attention and leaving you to return to that play button, over and over again.
