Linn Koch-Emmery - “Ebay Armor”

Ahead of her May album release, Sweden-based indie artist Linn Koch-Emmery has captured our undivided attention with her new single, “Ebay Armour.”

This tune begins with the gritty strums from a slightly over-driven guitar, which we tend to perceive as the foreshadowing of an approaching monster of a production– in this instance, we are correct. A few bars later, a resounding beat emerges, carrying with it Linn’s sublime vocal performance. Her delivery carries an emotional weight as it gracefully imparts lyrics that navigate a gamut of human conditions, from grief and trauma to hope and introspection.

The hook reveals a more melodic side of Linn’s voice and we find ourselves amazed at how well the track resides within the niche carved out by the likes of Metric, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Florence and the Machine. However, we are extremely confident in saying that “Ebay Armou” would most assuredly hold its own among these mainstream giants, with a good chance of becoming one of them itself.

The arrangement has been polished in a thick coat of reverb, satisfyingly widening the sonic landscape. Bits of ear candy weave in and out of the recording, including castanets and moments of layered vocals, as well as a tastefully deployed guitar solo. Each ingredient has been carefully placed in the most ideal position, bringing “Ebay Armou” to the forefront of songs that promote a positive change or even the slightest semblance of empowerment.

This May, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the release of the new LP, Borderline Iconic, though we’re quite certain that we will have another single for you soon, as soon as Linn Koch-Emmery sends one over to us.
