Leona Rue - “Bad Song”
UK-based singer-songwriter Leona Rue has just shared her infectious new indie pop rock single, “Bad Song.”
“Bad Song” embodies all the vibes of a classic indie pop/ rock number. It strikes a pleasing balance between intimacy and irresistible swagger, ebbing and flowing with a sense of elegance. The song is built around lush sounding electric guitar layers that richly chug and subtly add a gritty rhythmic texture.
A steady drum beat propels the song forward with assertive hi-hat, cymbal, and tom grooves. When coupled with the thick bass that pulses underneath, there is a wonderful sense of drive powering this track.
Leona Rue’s vocals set the storytelling lyrics alight with a versatile performance. Harmonising layers support delightfully, giving the track a subtle commercial glaze, but they are well executed, never pulling the track into sugary sweetness.
Leona Rue says about her new track: ‘‘Bad Song is inspired by house party culture. It’s a song for when you get too drunk and talk to that person you hate but are always secretly hoping to see there. You’re with friends but still keep them in the corner of your eye, failing to ignore them. Everyone has a person that is just stuck in their head like a ‘bad song’, so I thought it’d be fun to write about.”
“Bad Song” is a slick indie pop/ rock number that would make the perfect addition to any music lover’s playlist. Leona Rue is set to release her debut EP, All Of London Saw, on April 26th.
