Julia-Sophie - “telephone”

If you’re looking for some sad and moody, ‘80s-inspired indie pop, please look no further than “telephone,” the latest release from Anglo-French electronic artist Julia-Sophie.

telephone” gets listeners started with a pulsating synth over the top of a stripped-back rhythm. The barebones production provides the perfect foundation for a good, old-fashioned breakup song, which is exactly what is delivered to your eardrums upon the press of the play button.

The track is a bit outside of our usual flavor of indie, but once we heard Julia-Sophie’s voice, we had no choice but to feature “telephone” on the blog. Her performance is warmly reminiscent of Half Waif and Grimes, remarkably intimate and dreamy as she delivers her heartfelt lyrics.

This tune will fit quite perfectly in those playlists you listen to before, after, and during the emotional distress of losing someone. “telephone” is a multi-textured work of art, gently guiding you through the many layers of your heartache– the perfect, electronic soundtrack to your emotional peril.

Julia-Sophie adds: “My journey with music has been weird and long. I think people assumed that the music I made was exactly what I intended to make, when it’s always just been me trying to figure it out. Being a solo artist has allowed me to really find myself and show who I am in all my messy states.”

telephone” comes ahead of Julia-Sophie’s new LP, forgive too slow, due for release on July 26 via Ba Da Bing. Connect with Julia-Sophie: Instagram | Spotify | Facebook | Bandcamp
