Jon Torello - “Surrounded”

Singer-songwriter Jon Torello, from Northern California, USA, has just released the deeply reflective indie folk track, “Surrounded.”

Surrounded” encapsulates a sense of introspective dreaminess, with soft, shimmering acoustic guitar taking centre stage. With a delightfully clean production, the tones have an exquisite, open, almost floating atmosphere, yet there’s an incredible intimacy within the smooth chord progressions, almost evoking a quiet moment of self-reflection. Elevating this emotional resonance are the grandeur of swelling, vivid strings and the delicate, melodic accents of the piano.

Through the vivid, poetic lyrics that touch on wonder and solace, Jon Torello delivers a stripped-back vocal performance with no harmonies or backing layers, but, in this case, they are simply not needed. Warm, precise and full of emotional depth, the breathy, husky, mid-range delivery is delivered in a way that is meant to be felt.

Loose, open and heartfelt, “Surrounded” is as affecting and pretty as a slow sunset. The track is taken from Jon Torello’s forthcoming album. Connect with Jon Torello: Spotify | YouTube | Instagram | Bandcamp
