Jason Piquette - “Drop the Gun”
Florida-based singer-songwriter Jason Piquette has just released the soulfully intimate folk song, “Drop the Gun.”
The track is supported by a foundation of acoustic guitar, wonderfully strummed to indie-folk perfection. The production, at times, is so sparse that it is not at all difficult to imagine Piquette performing “Drop the Gun” for you in your living room, which just so happens to be our niche.
Piquette has been blessed with a voice that directly lands him within our wheelhouse, conjuring the vibes of artists such as Gregory Alan Isakov, Ed Patrick, and Henry Jamison. You will not find any autotune here– his vocal performance is entirely raw and filled to its brim with honest emotion.
On the refrains, “Drop the Gun” beholds spectacular layers of auxiliary vocals, allowing multiple crescendos to wash across the listener in recurring swells. When you combine this with the determination of the rhythm section and the soft, reverberating ambience of subtle lead guitar, it makes for one hell of a listening experience.
Through the lyrics, Piquette encourages listeners to let go of their fears in order to live life to its fullest. Filled with an emotionally-charged subject matter, he hopes “Drop the Gun” will provide the soundtrack for anyone willing to leave the past behind and look to the future.
“Drop the Gun” was produced by Tyler Neil Johnson (John Vincent III, Austin Basham, Joshua Hyslop) and is now available everywhere. Connect with Jason Piquette online: Spotify | Instagram
