Homesickness - “Asunder”

Homesickness, from Copenhagen, Denmark, has just released the moody and atmospheric indie folk track, “Asunder.”

Asunder” is a deeply melancholic and reflective track, with shades of Talk Talk, John Martyn, and Radiohead radiating out from its musical canvas. From the first notes, the track submerges you into a sombre, contemplative mood, offering an intimate meditation on loss and love. Delicate, hypnotic, and brittle acoustic guitar weaves while layers of rippling electric guitar, concertina, clarinet, bells, and cello are carefully applied.

With lingering nuances and haunting expressions, the performance draws you in with a resonant sense of introspection. Gentle, almost conversational the vocal delivery is palpably vulnerable and feels like the sharing of something incredibly personal, adding that it was written for his stepfather and stepsister, who have now passed on: “Sometimes the pain I hold in my heart feels as if it is too much to carry. I wrote this song to them and I wrote this song to me.”

Asunder” underlines the magic that can happen when talent and daring are deployed to push the musical boundaries. The track is the second single to be taken from Homesickness’ forthcoming album, Anamnesis, slated for release March 21st, 2025.
