Gooseberry - “Panic!”

Brooklyn-based indie rockers Gooseberry have given us another reason to love them with the release of “Panic!

This track begins with what sounds like some vinyl record foley before quickly breaking into some distant and lo-fi noise. A quick drum fill then ignites this firecracker and away we go. Before the vocals begin, “Panic!” offers your ears a semi-staccato rhythm that is somewhat reminiscent of The Clash, hitting just as hard and allowing whatever is front of you to become a drum kit– whether a desk or a steering wheel, do not be surprised when you find yourself hammering along to this one.

When the vocals arrive, however, we are quickly reminded of why we became Gooseberry fans in the first place. Asa Daniels has been blessed with a voice that is exactly what we’re looking for when it comes to this genre. As we mentioned in our last review, he has the ability to harness the energy of Jack White and Dan Auerbach, and we’re happy to inform you that this exquisite vocal style is present in “Panic!” And the music sounds tight as all hell, leading you through dynamic twists and turns, stamping this song with a guarantee that your ears will never get enough of it.

If you’re anything like us and find yourselves craving more of this sound, you’ll be very pleased to know that a Gooseberry EP is on its way! So sit back, press play, and be sure to get all of your friends to do the same.
