Francisco Sola - “Delete”
Once again, Buenos Aires-based singer-songwriter Francisco Sola has delivered the goods. This time, his mellifluous sound comes in the form of a sweet, indie pop / rock tune called “Delete.”
Pressing play will invite the sounds of a vibey, effected guitar into your ears as it soars across the top of a determined rhythm section. The beat is predominantly provided by the toms, while a bass pulses generously beneath. Cymbals crash across the arrangement like waves breaking on a rocky shore– all of this establishes the perfect invitation for Sola’s vocal to arrive.
And the man never ceases to amaze us with his voice. Although our first impression of him was made via the more folksy and cinematic “I”ll Be Gone,” we have been consistently thrilled to fill our ears with his compelling vocal– due to both its range and its emotional capacity. With “Delete,” he conjures the spirit of Mumford & Sons, with a healthy dose of The National, ensuring to fill a modern niche while also drawing in new fans.
The track ebbs and flows, most notably on the shifts from the verse to the refrain as it evolves into a rhythm that is bound to result in your head bobbing and your feet tapping. And although the weather is turning colder in the northern hemisphere, it is easy to image “Delete” as the type of song you blast while cruising down the highway with the windows down.
“Delete” marks the sixth occasion that we’ve featured Sola on the blog and if you’ve yet to catch an earful of his remarkable, dynamic sound, do yourself a favor and press that play button.
