Dea Doyle - “One For Me”

West London-based singer-songwriter Dea Doyle makes a smashing debut on our blog with her latest single, “One For Me.”

Inspired by Katy Perry’s One Of The Boys, we’re also picking up some Liz Phair vibes with this one. It begins with a bit of nature foley before breaking into one of the catchiest synth-infused melodies that you’re ever going to hear. “One For Me” completely latches itself onto listeners mere seconds after pressing the play button.

A lo-fi beat drives the rhythm, leaving you helpless against the bliss that washes over you. A pulsating bass rounds out the deep end, carving an exquisite path for Doyle’s vocal performance. The verses have quite a bouncy, poppy feel to them, but the choruses bring some good, old-fashioned indie rock charm and it is this luscious shift in dynamics that will, without a doubt, keep you returning to it.

Patience shall reward you with a middle eight that delves into the sonic deep end, which is extremely refreshing, considering many modern artists tend to forgo a bridge altogether. Its restrained production helps to intensify the ensuing final round of refrains, before returning to its initial ear-worm melody.

This is our first time hearing from Dea Doyle, but “One For Me” is a fine way to make her acquaintance and we truly hope she sends us all of her future releases.
